The space

The decision

Porcelain plank rather than wood: it takes the door, the dog and the salt. Laid along the long wall with a one-third offset, because a half offset on long planks lips at the ends.

The detail

Long plank tile is only as flat as the floor under it. The subfloor was levelled first, which is why the raking window light in these photos shows no shadows at the joints.
