1980s Tile Out, Marble-Look Shower In

Glass shower with marble-look walls and a grey hexagon mosaic floor

The space

White 4×4 tile with a blue border, original to the house. Grout gone in the corners, a shower head fixed at the height of the shortest person who ever lived there.

The decision

Everything off. The shower footprint stayed, the door became glass, and a wainscot of the same marble-look tile runs around the rest of the room so the shower does not look like a box in the corner.

The detail

The wainscot cap is a bullnose cut from the wall tile itself, so the top edge matches the wall instead of introducing a third material.

Before / After

Drag the line

Same spot, same phone. The only thing that changed is the work.

The window on the left of the old shower is now behind the vanity wall. Everything else moved with it. Original shower with white 4×4 tile, a blue border and a fixed shower head. The finished shower in marble-look porcelain with a hexagon floor and glass door.
