Herringbone Marble Backsplash Between Oak Cabinets

The space
New oak cabinets and a quartz counter, and a wall between them that needed to look as considered as the two things it sits between.
The decision
Honed marble in a small herringbone. Honed rather than polished so it does not fight the sheen of the quartz, and small so the grey veining reads as texture from across the room.
The detail
Herringbone has no straight grout line to hide a cut in. Every outlet is cut through the pattern so the plate lands on tile at all four edges and the chevrons continue past it uninterrupted.
